St. Joseph’s Clothing Room
The clothing room is open every other Friday. We serve about 150-200 mostly men on those days. Our clothing room is neat and clean and every item is by size. We truly try to make it a pleasant shopping experience for our friends. They may take what they need, and when they are finished we have volunteers that bag their clothes and give them new underwear and socks. Donations of men's jeans are always needed: sizes 30, 32, and 34. We also have blankets, shoes, books, and hygiene kits ( shampoo, toothbrush & paste, lotion, tissues, razors), available for our guests.
Ashley Xavier Baby Closet
In 2011, a guest of ours, Ashley gave birth to a baby boy, Xavier, who developed lung problems and died at 2 days old. Grievously, a week later Ashley was shot to death in a park downtown. We created this closet for moms and babies, and we named it after Ashley and Xavier to bring some good out of that horrible situation. This closet provides diapers for moms who need them, and we keep a small amount to baby supplies as well. We have a few young children that visit our pantry so we always try to have some toys on hand too.
