December 2006
- Sr. BJ Christmas Letter |
|
 |
April 2, 2006 - Thanks Be to God! The Metro-Missionaries from the
Catholic Parish of St. John the Baptist, Edmond, OK, recently ran a food
drive to help stock our pantry. We're overwhelmed with their
generosity. The parishioners also sent Easter Eggs containing prayers
and words of encouragement to pass along to the homeless.

February 3, 2006 - We've opened our doors to the homeless. Charlie
came by as our "first customer" and helped himself to a breakfast bag,
blanket and fresh clothing.

You Can Help!
Please consider making a donation
to Sr. BJ's Pantry. |
Tommy Cox, student
at SEAS donated $218.00 for Sister BJ's Pantry. Tommy had a
Birthday Party and asked his friends to make a donation to the Pantry
instead of presents for him. WOW! That takes a lot of courage!! Thank you
Tommy and God Bless you for your kindness. |

Sr. BJ's
Pantry Has a New Home! |
819 NW 4th, OKC |
|
Thanks to the generosity of one kind soul, Sr.
BJ's Pantry has a new home. Aaron Scott has donated the use of one of
his buildings for Sr. BJ's Pantry. We been in the process of painting
and cleaning and will soon have some shelving to begin storing clothing and
supplies for the homeless.
Our
new location is at 819 NW 4th Street in downtown Oklahoma City. This
is in very close proximity to the streets where most of the homeless
congregate, and will be an ideal location to set up shop.
We give thanks to God for Aaron Scott's
incredible kindness, love and generosity! |

Last
Christmas the 6th grade RE Class from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church
presented 15 shoeboxes to Sister Barbara Joseph for the Homeless. Each box
contained a bottle of water, pair of socks, knit hat, candy and snacks. Each
box was wrapped in Christmas paper. Boxes were distributed before Christmas
to those living on the streets in downtown OKC.
It was such a blessing to watch them open their very own package and to see
how they were touched. This year I put a call out for help on making up the
boxes once again. We collected over 100 shoeboxes filled with goodies. I
would like to thank St. Elizabeth Ann Seton students, RE Middle school
students, St. John the Baptist Confirmation Classes and Bishop McGuinness
Students for their support in putting together the boxes. For many on the
streets, this was their only Christmas present. They will be delivered on
Christmas morning by our group from "Hotdogs for the Homeless". May God
bless you for caring for others during this holiday season. |

The Region X Youth
Conference was held in downtown OKC on November 19 -21 this year. Over 200
High School youth attended this event. It is a time for youth from our
regions to get together to celebrate their catholic faith all together.
Many were asked to bring a small tube of toothpaste to go to Sister BJ's
Pantry for the homeless. We collected over 500 tubes. What a blessing!!
Travel size toothpaste is the hardest hygiene product to obtain so this was
great. |
Each month the St. John
the Baptist, Edmond Knights have a pancake
breakfast the first Sunday of each month. The Knights have graciously let
me place a tip jar on their table for the pantry. Funds collected to date:
November - $85.00
December - $179.00 |
